A cast thermoplastic resin, acrylic is more stiff & brittle than plastics such as acetates, polycarbonates or vinyls. It is 17 times stronger than glass with excellent resistance to UV damage. Mirror acrylic has one reflective side, and one side that is painted with the mirror coating (which has a matte, gray appearance). The mirror coating is opaque to visible light.
